There is nothing less equitable than the ACT having two extra public holidays each year. That’s 18% more if you like percentages.
Xero and MYOB should have a payroll category for public holidays paid but not worked. I think a payslip showing 7 days worked +Xmas day + Boxing Day + New Year’s Day is intuitive. It’s also a nice reminder that small business covers the bills over Xmas.
I’m starting to deal with the ATO pretty regularly and stuff is getting done. The young guy this morning was great and I was very complimentary. If this continues we will get back to having a polite phone culture. If you’re young, trust me this is getting better.
